U.S. consumer furniture orders fell 41% in May, shipments rose 10%
Aug 19, 2022Recently, American consulting firm Smith Leonard released the latest "Furniture Insights" report. The report shows that in May this year, new orders for residential furniture in the United States fell by about 41% year-on-year, and the number of new orders from January to May fell by 25% year-on-year. Compared to May 2021, residential furniture shipments increased by 10% in May and 7% in the first five months of the year. The backlog of residential furniture fell by 8% month-on-month and 4% year-on-year. Inventory levels rose 41% year over year.
