UK retail furniture prices up 14.1% in January, breaking record again

According to the latest statistics from the Office for National Statistics, in January 2022, the UK furniture retail price (RPI) index reached a new high with an increase of 14.1%, and it was also the fifth consecutive month that the index exceeded 10%. The furniture production index for the month was 20%, and it is now five months in a row that the index has reached at least 20%. Retail sales of furniture and lighting products were £1.32bn in January 2022, up 51.3% from the same period in 2021, but down 7.7% from pre-COVID 2019.
