Manufacturing PMI rebounded to 49.6% in May
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, with the steady progress of resumption of work and production in Shanghai, Jilin and other provinces, in May, China's manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) rose by 2.2 percentage points from the previous month to 49.6%, but it still fell short of the boom line. The National Bureau of Statistics pointed out that among the 21 industries surveyed this month, the number of industries with PMI in the expansion range increased from 9 in the previous month to 12, and the manufacturing sector showed positive changes. In addition, the production index and new order index were 49.7% and 48.2%, respectively, up 5.3 and 5.6 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that both manufacturing production and demand have recovered to varying degrees.
