U.S. furniture manufacturing loses money for seven straight months
On December 3, the US Institute for Supply Management (ISM) released its November report. After months of no increase or decrease in the manufacturing industry, the industry suffered a loss in revenue for the first time in November. Of the 18 manufacturing sectors counted by the ISM, furniture and wood products all posted losses. Since May, the furniture manufacturing industry has lost money for seven consecutive months. The number of new orders in the entire manufacturing industry is declining, and the number of orders in the furniture industry is flat month-on-month, with almost no decrease. In addition, the furniture industry is one of the seven sub-sectors whose output has declined, ranking third in the industry.
